A Weekend In Sunny San Diego

October 2, 2006
"John and I got to go on a fun weekend getaway to San Diego! I couldn't believe it only took us five hours to drive to the beach. Once we checked into our hotel in Mission Bay, we drove to Pacific Beach and walked along the shoreline. It seems like we didn't get to spend much time in the ocean on our honeymoon, so it was nice to be able to experience a romantic walk on the beach at sunset for the first time."
"The next day John took me exploring and we went to Coronado Island and visited the famous Hotel Del Coronado."
"It was fun walking around and seeing all the pictures of famous people who had stayed there and the history behind the hotel. The smell reminded me of Grandma Bowen's farmhouse because the wood was so old - built in the 1800's!
"We visited a small historical museum and then went down to Coronado Beach."
"John found a sand dollar, so we went on a treasure hunt and found five more. We were soaked to our thighs from the rushing waves by the time we were through!"
"The next morning we went to the San Diego Zoo, where they were celebrating their 90th Anniversary Founders Day, so admission was free!"
"We took a bus tour first, then walked back around to get a closer look at some of the animals. Then we got to ride the sky lift back to the entrance. It was really fun!"
"That afternoon we went to Mission Beach and had some fun playing in the sand, and I watched John body board on the waves."
"John came back in from the water and we stayed on the beach to watch the sunset. It was the first time I got to experience seeing the sunlight reflect off the ocean as it disappeared over the horizon, and it was amazing. I could definitely get used to this!"
