Our Life Begins In Arizona!

July 17, 2006
"We survived the trip from Idaho to Arizona! I drove my car until we got to Provo, then John took over and we stayed the night in Kanab. When we crossed the Arizona border I made sure to get a picture! This is my new home!"
"We stopped at a few places along the way, but we finally made it home on Sunday afternoon."
"John carried me across the threshold when we got to the house. :) We made spaghetti for dinner that night and watched 'Lady and the Tramp' on the living room floor. We bought couches from Joe, but we had to wait for mom and dad to bring them down from Idaho in the trailer a few weeks later. The first few days were pretty interesting. :) John had been living alone in the house for a few months, so supplies were minimal. When I went to use the shower there were only 3 towels - John's used towel, the one on the floor being used as a bath mat, and one in the trunk of his car that he used for drying after a wash. He had purchased a king sized mattress, but we hadn't bought sheets for it yet, so we spread his twin sized bed sheet across the two of us and slept with our feet uncovered during our first night. It was pretty hilarious. Needless to say, I was anxious to go shopping with all the gift cards we received from our wedding."
"We hung out with Jana's family on the 4th of July for a barbecue and went swimming at her friend's house."
"Our Wedding Open House was on July 8th at Connie and Lothaire Bluth's house in Gilbert. Mom and Dad drove down from Idaho with a trailer so we could move our couches and an old dining table set of Grandma Bowen's. The Open House was really nice. They had a bunch of our wedding photos set up in frames, and we had a cheesecake bar and another table for sandwiches. John's friend Jacob Speirs put together our wedding video, so we had that playing along with our picture slide show. John and I dressed up in our wedding attire, and it was fun meeting all of John's friends and family from around the valley."
"I had a job interview with Banner Baywood in Mesa a few days after we got home from Idaho, and was offered a job as a 'Nurse Extern' until I take my licensing exam. I'll be working on the orthopedic unit, and I'm so excited to get started! My first day of orientation was a little stressful. I thought I had enough gas in my car to make it to work, but as I was ready to pull onto the freeway my car shut down! John had to come rescue me with a spare tank of gas, and with a little prayer and the Lord's help, I made it to work 30 minutes late. Luckily, the rest of the week turned out just fine."
"I also had a heck of a time getting my social security information changed so I could get my driver's license. They spelled my name 'Crithchfield' so I had to go back twice to get it fixed! But now I am officially 'Dana Lyn Critchfield', and I am officially an Arizona resident!"
